Book reviews
Thank you for visiting Raiding Bookshelves. I post honest and fair reviews of books I own, I’ve borrowed, been sent by publishers/authors or have been granted advance access to through NetGalley, or Voracious Readers.
Raiding Bookshelves is primarily a fiction book review blog. At this time, review requests for the following genres will be welcome:
- Crime
- Fantasy
- Historical fiction
- Historical romance
- Literary fiction
- New adult
- Romance
- Sci-fi fantasy
- Young adult
Unfortunately, I will not be reviewing the following genres at this time:
- Any non-fiction
- Straight science-fiction
- Any non-fiction
- Straight science-fiction
- Poetry
- Comics or graphic novels
- Mystery or thriller
- Horror
While I love being contacted by authors for book reviews, I don’t have the time to accept all review requests. I will look into every request, consider time requirements and let you know if or how I can support your new release.
Submitting a request
Please provide the following information when requesting a review through Raiding Bookshelves:
- Author name
- Book title
- Publication date
- Preferred timeframe for the review
- Detailed book summary
- Details for any book tour or giveaway you’d like Raiding Bookshelves to participate in
Digital copies should be shared as .epub or .pdf where possible. If a physical copy is available, please let me know in the request and I can send you a postal address.

Reviews, ratings and more…
All reviews are honest and fair representations of my own opinions. This means, if I did not enjoy your book, I will share my reasoning and provide some examples in my review.
If I do not finish the book, I will let you know why and mark it as DNF on Goodreads and StoryGraph, but will not post a review here.

Did not finish/did not enjoy.
Couldn’t get into the story/characters were not likeable/not my preferred style/genre.
Average rating. A good book but not remarkable.
Will read again and will recommend to others. Very likeable characters and/or plot.
I will be buying a copy of this book as soon as possible. I will recommend it to others and use it as a pick-me-up when I’m feeling down. This is one of my favourite books and a remarkable story.
