Renegade by J.A Souders

The Ex Hex by @erinsterlingbooks is another #booktok rec letdown. I just wasn’t feeling it, the characters felt very one dimensional, the magical world was unexciting and the plot was littered with ideas to up the drama that went nowhere and had nearly no consequences. #theexhex My second audiobook for the year was @cindachima’s Children of Ragnarok. An epic saga that tackles loss, trauma, discovery and sacrifice through parallel stories. Can’t wait for the second instalment. #cindawilliamschima #cindawillims #childrenofragnarok #runestonesaga Couldn’t escape this one. I don’t think I loved it as much as #BookTok but the way @gabriellezevin’s Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow explored friendship, love, work, passion and creativity really connected me to the characters and their lives. It gave me the sucker punch I’m coming to expect from my 2023 reads too. #tomorrowandtomorrowandtomorrow #gabriellezevin This read has been a long time coming. Black humour, end of days, and friendship combine to make Good Omens a worthy read. #goodomens #terrypratchett #neilgaiman A confronting autobiography on McCurdy’s life as a child star and the woman who shaped (for better and for worse) her. #jenettemccurdy #imgladmymomdied The conclusion to @marissameyerauthor’s Gild, this book took the classic Rumplestiltskin tale and turned it on its head. With a protagonist with Scheherazade vibes, a Rumple love interest and Meyers enchanting prose, it was the fairytale retelling I needed. #marissameyer #cursed #rumplestiltskin An stunning autobiographical novel of a new reality as reality shifts, her relationships flicker and change and she loses trust in her body after a life altering diagnosis. Challenging, brilliant and deeply emotional read: So Lucky by Nicola Griffith. #nicolegriffith #solucky A heart-breaking insight into the lives, suffering and history-making contributions of the radium dial-painters who shone from the inside out. #theradiumgirls #radiumgirls #katemoore Utterly wrecked after finishing A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara (@alittlelifebook). Best book I’ve read in years and I cried for at least the last third of the book. #hanyayanagihara #alittlelife
